How much does self-storage cost?

Are there any items I can't store?
Yes, for safety reasons, you cannot store:
Liquids
Explosives or flammable items
Toxic materials
Perishable goods

What's the best way to pack a unit?
Smart packing saves space and time. Place larger or less-used items in the back and leave a walkway down the center. Label boxes clearly---or snap a photo of each box's contents and tape it to the outside. For more tips, check out our storage tips page.
When can I access my unit?
Most of our locations offer access from 6 AM to 9 PM, giving you plenty of flexibility to visit your unit when it works for you.
Any tips for moving into my unit?

What is a drive-up storage unit?
Drive-up units are ground-level or outdoor spaces you can pull your vehicle up to---perfect for unloading bulky or heavy items easily.
Do you offer moving tools?
Yes! We offer complimentary moving carts at all our facilities to make moving day easier.
How do I reserve a moving truck?
Need wheels? Contact the Max Manager at your local StorageMax to reserve a moving truck for your move-in.
Can I park my RV or boat?
Absolutely! Select StorageMax locations offer parking for RVs, boats, cars, and motorcycles. Contact your location to see if it is available.
Can I purchase boxes or packing supplies?
Yes, we stock a wide range of competitively priced packing supplies---boxes, tape, bubble wrap, and more---right at our facilities.
Do you provide locks?
Yes! You'llWith an online rental, you'll receive a free lock. We also sell high-security disc locks and other options onsite.
How do I access my unit?
Every tenant receives a personal gate code to access our secure electronic gate system. Want even more convenience? Use our app to open the gate right from your smartphone.
How far in advance can I book?
You can reserve a unit up to 10 days in advance. We recommend reserving early to lock in availability and the best rates.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept major credit cards, including MasterCard, Visa, and American Express. You can also pay with cash at your facility's front office.
Is insurance required?
Yes, insurance is required. You can use your policy or choose from our available insurance plans. Just ask a Max Manager for details.
What documentation do I need to rent?
You'll need a valid, government-issued photo ID---such as a driver's license, state ID, passport, or military ID.
How do I vacate my unit?
Are you planning to move out? We require a 10-day written notice. This helps us keep things running smoothly for all tenants.
